Jay L. Parry

As President and Chief Operating Officer, Jay Parry is responsible for overseeing all business operations of the Mercury. She begins her fifth season with the Mercury, coming off of the 2007 championship season.

Since her first season four years ago, Parry has assembled an all-star staff that has focused on building a WNBA experience that will excite and inspire fans, marketing partners and the community. Under Parry’s leadership the team has posted double-digit business growth in the areas of corporate partnerships and acquiring new fans and has significantly increased brand building, marketing and community outreach results. Most recently she was named one of Arizona Woman Magazine’s “20 women who will shape Arizona by 2020.”

Prior to joining the Mercury, Parry was not a stranger to the sports scene. She worked on the flip side, as a sponsor while with Bank of America. She oversaw the creation of sponsorship packages with the Phoenix Mercury, Phoenix Suns and various other professional sports franchises in the Central and Western U.S.

During her tenure at Bank of America Parry served as Executive Vice President and Marketing Executive of Bank of America’s (B of A) ten-state Central Region. Based in Dallas, Texas, she was responsible for marketing activities conducted in the bank’s four major divisions, covering in excess of $25 billion in deposits and 725 branches. Prior to that she was headquartered in Phoenix, and served as Executive Vice President and Marketing Director of the bank’s four-state Southwest Region (Arizona, Texas, Nevada and New Mexico).

She started her career in San Francisco at Young & Rubicam advertising before moving to Bank of America. Parry held numerous positions of increasing responsibility at the bank, handling national and regional marketing and business management functions.

Parry has demonstrated the franchise’s commitment to the community by increasing year-round community outreach efforts. She and the management staff, along with players and coaches, have worked with Valley non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity Valley of the Sun, Florence Crittenton, Valley of the Sun United Way, Salvation Army, Susan G. Komen Phoenix Affiliate, Boys and Girls Clubs, Special Olympics Arizona, Arizona Humane Society and with schools throughout Maricopa County.

While in Phoenix she has also served on the Boards of Arizona Women for Education and Employment (AWEE), the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Downtown Phoenix Partnership and the Phoenix Pride Commission. She was appointed to the Super Bowl XXX MVP Host Committee and also served on the 1998 City of Phoenix International Women’s Day Executive Committee. While in Dallas, Parry served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Red Cross and the Texas Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She was also a member of the leadership team of the Dallas Women’s Mentoring Program.

A native of Del Mar, California, Parry earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Colorado in Boulder and is currently the highest ranking female executive in Arizona sports.
