Lilian Vayhinger
Lil Vayhinger is vice president of the Program Management Excellence
organization at
Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Ariz. In this role, she is responsible
for developing and
managing the support structure, systems, tools, training and career
development for the program management community, to achieve increased
speed and consistency in the way Missile Systems manages programs.
Prior to her present position, Vayhinger served as deputy for the Strike
product line. She was
responsible for program execution and performance, as well as overseeing
all aspects of the product line in direct support of the product line vice
president. The Strike product line develops and produces most of the
nation’s Strike-type weapons: Tomahawk Cruise Missile,
Joint Stand-Off Weapon (JSOW), Paveway™ Laser Guided Bomb, High-speed
Anti-Radiation
Missile (HARM), Maverick, Advanced Cruise Missile and Miniature Air
Launched Decoy
(MALD) products and services.
Vayhinger also served as business director for the Strike product line,
which accounts for nearly $1 billion in annual sales for the company.
She began her career at General Dynamics in 1982 as an estimator in the
Contracts department. She progressed to business management in 1989.
Vayhinger has a bachelor’s degree in economics from California Polytechnic
State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the
University of LaVerne. She is also a
graduate of The Defense Systems Management College five-month program
managers course.
