Charitie is an
attorney with Ryley Carlock & Applewhite.
She practices in the area of labor & employment law, general commercial
litigation, and appellate advocacy.
In her employment practice, Charitie represents employers in litigation
before federal and state courts, as well as before federal and state
agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and
Arizona Civil Rights Division (ACRD). Charitie believes that many
employee claims are preventable and therefore provides counseling and
training seminars on a wide range of employment matters such as
personnel policies, hiring and firing, wrongful termination,
discrimination, harassment, and compliance with state and federal laws.
Charitie is a contributing author of the ARIZONA EMPLOYMENT LAW
HANDBOOK, a comprehensive treatise addressing all aspects of employment
law in Arizona. She also serves as a sits on the Board of Directors for
the Labor and Employment section of the Maricopa County Bar association.
In addition to her labor and employment experience, Charitie has handled
a number of probate and commercial litigation matters and has
effectively represented clients in all types of business disputes.
Charitie also has extensive appellate experience in both state and
federal court. In addition to having handled appeals in the Arizona
state appellate courts and in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals,
Charitie worked for a year as a law clerk to the Honorable Diane M.
Johnsen.
Charitie received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Arizona State
University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law where she was elected to
the Order of Coif. Charitie graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State
University with a degree in religious studies. She is an alumna of the
Barrett Honors College.
