Jeanette K. Harrison

Jeanette K. Harrison, Doctor of Public Administration (DPA), is vice president of the American Express Learning Network since February, 2005. Dr. Harrison and her team are chartered to train all who serve American Express’ customers through performance support strategies and solutions.

Formerly a board member of the American Society for Training and Development’s (ASTD) Public Policy Council, who served as the Council's chairperson from 2007 to 2008, she supports her field by serving as an examiner for ASTD’s annual “Excellence in Practice Awards." Dr. Harrison is currently chairperson for ASTD’s Talent Management Advisory Committee and is a member of the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) committee on training—the body charged with drafting International Standards for the training and learning arena.

Prior to her post at American Express, Dr. Harrison was employed at Intel Corporation where she served as director of knowledge and learning, responsible for providing performance support strategies and solutions to manufacturing employees worldwide. While at Intel, she served as an elected member of the Arizona State Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the University of Southern California’s School of Engineering Board of Councilors, Arizona State University School of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, Society of Manufacturing’s Educational Foundation, and Manufacturing Skills Standards Commission.

In 2003, Dr. Harrison was awarded Intel’s highest diversity recognition when named the Corporation’s diversity champion. She served as the senior sponsor for the “Women at Intel” (an affinity employee group for women at Intel), primary liaison with Catalyst, and a team member of numerous diversity initiatives throughout the Corporation. Before working at Intel Corporation, Dr. Harrison served as vice president of strategic planning and business development at National Computer Systems.

Dr. Harrison has an extensive background in learning, knowledge management, and strategic planning, having held a variety of positions in the educational technology domain. She holds a doctorate in public administration from the University of Southern California; both undergraduate (sociology/psychology) and Master’s degrees (higher education administration) were conferred by the American University, Washington, D.C. Dr. Harrison is also an executive and life coach, certified by the International Coach Federation (ACC); she lives in Tempe, Arizona, with her three horses and three dogs.
