"In spite of illness, in spite even of the archenemy sorrow,
one can remain alive long past the usual date of
disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in
intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy
in small ways."

Michelle Dionisio and Karen Wellert
Interfaith Community Care’s $7.5 million vision for a
multi-generational daycare facility and community center in the
Northwest Valley received a $10,000 boost thanks to a donation
from Central Phoenix Women member Karen Wellert, CEO of Adultcare
Assistance Homecare in Sun City. Wellert is among the first local
business leaders to extend financial support to Interfaith
Community Care’s capital campaign for its new Surprise facility.
The capital campaign has already raised more than $5 million in
grants and private pledges. Interfaith Community Care President
and CEO Michelle Dionisio hopes that area residents and local
business owners will follow Wellert’s lead and join in
contributing the final $2.5 million needed to reach the goal.
“We are grateful to Karen Wellert for her generosity and community
spirit,” expressed Dionisio. “This endeavor is a major milestone
for Interfaith and the Northwest Valley. Community support like
Karen’s is vital to ensuring the valuable services that this new
campus will bring to all generations, young and old.”

Rendering Authenticity: How to Succeed in the Experience Economy
The new consumer sensibility, widely
heralded in the business press, is the Experience Economy. Our
world of mediated, staged and multi-sensory experience -- an
increasingly unreal world -- gives rise to people desiring
authentic or "real" experiences. But what is authenticity? In
their new book, James H. Gilmore and B. Joseph Pine II provide an
answer. It's a fascinating -- if sometimes difficult to follow --
analysis of the matrix of real/fake and the many and mixed
positions therein. By the end of the book the reader should emerge
with the ability to understand the mechanics of authenticity as it
applies in the world of economic offerings.
