Rhonda Forsyth named Businesswoman of the Year
Phoenix Business Journal
- by Lynn Ducey
The incoming president and CEO of John C. Lincoln Health
Network, Rhonda Forsyth, was named 2009 Businesswoman of the
Year as part of a luncheon and trade expo to recognize the
Phoenix-area’s top female executives.
Forysth currently is executive vice president and chief
operating officer for John C. Lincoln Health Network and will
assume the hospital’s highest leadership post next month.
In receiving her award, Forsyth said she was honored to be
chosen from a field of such top-achieving women and accepted the
award on behalf of the more than 3,000 John C. Lincoln employees
who contribute to her success.
The event was sponsored by the Phoenix Business Journal and with
more than 400 people attended the event Tuesday at the Downtown
Phoenix Sheraton.
A panel of five women discussed keys to their success and their
take on the economic situation as part of a roundtable moderated
by Phoenix Business Journal Editor Ilana Lowery: Susan Cordts,
president and CEO of Adaptive Technologies; Donna Davis, CEO of
the Arizona Small Business Association; Paige Heavey, owner of
Paige Heavey Fine Properties and director of Central Phoenix
Women; Patty Johnson, owner of Connections Marketing and
Communications and Michelle Robson, founder and chairwoman of
EmpowHer.com,
While the executives said it is important to track the impact of
President Obama’s stimulus package, they also hope it will help
reinvigorate the economy and urged Gov. Jan Brewer to protect
the state’s education spending as legislators cut programs and
services to shore up Arizona’s $3 billion budget deficit.
“Education sets the foundation for our future,” said Heavey.
The women also urged their fellow executives to mentor younger
women and seek opportunities to contribute to the community,
through things such as civic participation, coaching youth
sports and volunteerism at local schools.
“Find something that you truly care about, get engaged and get
involved. Get on the board, get on a committee,” said Johnson.
In all, 25 women were honored at the event. Click here for a
