WHERE TEA TIME MEETS HAPPY HOUR
Tea with a Twist
Phoenix, Ariz. August 7, 2006 – The Ritz-Carlton has always been
recognized for the classic elegance that is captivated in its
award winning afternoon tea service. Now you can enjoy a new twist
on the traditional tea experience. Tea with a Twist takes the
conventional English tea service and gives it a fresh look, new
flavor and trendy setting where everyone will want to be seen.
This is the perfect way to spend time with your family and
friends.
Say goodbye to the standard finger
sandwiches that will be replaced with tapas-style hors d’oeuvres
including such creations as a mille-feuille pastry twist with
salmon tartar or a cucumber twirl with vanilla scented Dungeness
crab salad. Guests will still be able to enjoy the sweet side of
tea time with exquisite tarts, cakes, and pastries. To capture the
essence of a good time, Tea with a Twist will include a choice of
selections of unique teas or an original tea infused mar-tea-ni.
Don’t expect the classical piano music in the background either.
The Nicole Pesce combo will be warming up the room with
contemporary acoustics while the voice of Jeffrey Hattrick takes
center stage. With dimmed chandeliers and candlelight, the
ambiance of the Ritz-Carlton Lobby Lounge takes on an entirely new
richness around Tea with a Twist.
Tea
with a Twist will be served Wednesday through Friday from 4:30 –
7:00 p.m. beginning the week of September 20. Reservations are
required for those wanting to enjoy the full menu at a price of
$32. The Ritz-Carlton will continue to offer its classic afternoon
tea service at noon on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and at
noon and 3 p.m. on Saturdays. For all tea reservations, please
call 602-468-0700.
Voted as the “Best Place to have
Afternoon Tea” by the Arizona Foothills Magazine and named “Best
High Tea” by the Phoenix New Times, 2005 and by Phoenix Magazine,
2004, 2005 and 2006, The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix is a spectacular
11-story hotel built against the beauty of the southwestern
landscape. It is nestled in the midst of the Camelback Corridor
with direct access to first-class shopping, entertainment and
award-winning restaurants such as the European inspired, bistro
24.
Reading List
The
BMW in the Costco parking lot is the operative metaphor of Michael
J. Silverstein's new book, "Treasure Hunt: Inside the Mind of the
New Consumer," co-authored with John Butman. Silverstein describes
the flip side of "trading up" -- the trend in the luxury sector
that was the subject of his best-selling first book of the same
name. Consumers are buying more pricey goods, he writes, but they
are also "trading down" -- treasure hunting -- for bulk goods and
items that do not have high emotional value. The phenomenon
creates huge opportunities for companies that figure out how to
meet customers at the bottom or the top of the price continuum,
and disaster for those stuck in the middle.
